Biodiversity Evaluation & Ecological Processes

Effective conservation is underpinned by knowledge of biodiversity values and the ecological and anthropogenic processes influencing these. Core to developing and delivering effective conservation interventions in Australia and overseas is increasing our understanding of:

  • How key threatening processes operate
  • Habitat management
  • Population dynamics of target species
  • How all of these elements interact

In addition to these questions, an understanding of more basic biodiversity questions is required internationally including:

  • Biodiversity inventory
  • Modelling patterns and distribution of biodiversity or target species in relation to protected area management
  • Differentiating multiple potentially threatening processes
