Melbourne Zoo's Behind-the-Scenes encounters provide a unique opportunity to experience life behind-the-scenes at the Zoo. Our keepers will take you into the 'off limits' area where you can get up close with some of the world's most amazing animals. Learn about the Zoo's role in conservation and how the keepers care for our animals.

Bookings

• Bookings must be made 14 days in advance by contacting the Sales team on 1300 ZOOS VIC
• Payment can be made by credit card over the phone
• The minimum quoted price will apply, even if the number of participants is less than the minimum number allowed for that experience
• An animal encounter booking includes entry to Melbourne Zoo for the day

Important Things you Need to Know

• Don't wear red, or bring bright colours as they may disturb the animals and cause unexpected responses
• Don't wear strong perfume or aftershave
• Wear flat, enclosed shoes
• Bring your camera to capture the moment
• Prams and strollers cannot be taken into the off-limits areas

Terms and Conditions

• The Zoo reserves the right to cancel an encounter due to an animal welfare issue. A full refund will be made
• Due to animal behavioural issues, experiences may vary
• All participants must agree to follow the keeper’s instructions
• A paying adult must accompany children under 16 years of age
• Parents or adult guardians must take responsibility for participating children at all times
• Participants may be asked to leave the enclosure at any time during the encounters at the keeper’s discretion
