Trail of the Elephants

Trail of the Elephants is a multi-award winning development that takes visitors into an Asian village and garden setting which is home to the Zoo’s five elephants: Bong Su, Mek Kapah, Dokkoon, Num-Oi and Kulab.

The trail represents a major change in how Melbourne Zoo presents a wildlife species as it incorporates a human element for the first time – the challenges faced by people living in parts of Asia where elephants still roam wild.

Around the world, human populations are moving to land where wildlife has lived undisturbed. Trail of the Elephants highlights this problem and how conservationists are trying to find solutions that can protect wildlife but not disadvantage people.
