His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin, supreme head of the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism visited Healesville Sanctuary to offer thanks and blessings.

Sakya Trizin, second only to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, offered prayers for the tens of millions of animals who perished in the Victorian bushfires and blessed the Australian Wildlife Health Centre at Healesville Sanctuary where injured wildlife were brought, many for intensive care. The veterinary team also acted as a triage point and provided specialist help to wildlife carers and vets in fire affected regions.

The Sanctuary continues to care for bushfire-affected Victorian native wildlife.
