Investigating the grassland ecosystem

Explore the diversity that exists between animals, plants and other organisms within a grassland ecosystem

Undertaking fieldwork, students record first hand data about the relationships that exist in native grasslands.

Guided by a zoo educator, students use a range of techniques while searching for evidence of animals and identifying various plants. Biotic and abiotic factors are researched in a grassland community, revealing how the altering of any single factor impacts upon the ecosystem as a whole. Observation, monitoring, data collection and analysis through quadrats are integral to this program.

This program can be used to meet the requirements of the School Assessed Coursework (SAC).
