Zooperman is the new zooper hero for Zoos Victoria – fighting extinction along with his band of twenty Extinction Fighters (who also happen to be the same 20 priority species that Zoos Victoria has committed to help).

Zooperman is here to show you that it doesn’t take much to make a difference to wildlife and fight extinction – be it switching to recycled toilet paper or buying beads at our zoos, you can be sure Zooperman’s advice is advice that works!

The Extinction Fighters (TM) are a band of twenty incredible Australian native species – animals that are found in the south-east corner of Australia and who are all under serious threat! They are a mighty voice for native fauna and are here to help the public learn to love their local wildlife and take action to ensure their survival. Everyone can be a hero and help save wildlife, no matter how small, young, old, furry or slimy you are.

Each of the Zoos Victoria properties has a special hero species onsite – who will help tell the story of fighting extinction:

  • You can fall in love with Leadbeater’s Possum and Lunar Leadbeater at Healesville Sanctuary.
  • Find out about Barri and his Eastern Barred Bandicoot pals at Werribee Open Range Zoo, with the new Australian Journey opening in 2013.
  • Get up close with Lord Howe, our famous phasmid, at Melbourne Zoo – where he and his Lord Howe Island Stick Insect friends are being bred for release in the future.

As well as these three, many other Extinction Fighters will be appearing at a property near you– keep an eye out for them and say ‘Hi!’ to Zooperman.
