Werribee Open Range Zoo recreates the look and feel of the African savannah in Melbourne, Australia – just 30 minutes drive from the CBD.
Developed around the tranquil natural surrounds and wide open spaces of the Werribee River district, the 200 hectare property is home to some of Africa’s most iconic animals, as well as wildlife from the grasslands of Asia, North America and Australia.
We offer a unique wedding day experience for you and your guests, with the option of two flexible reception venues. Our restaurant quality catering combines the best of African food and flavours with the finest Victorian regional produce.
Savannah Room
The Savannah Room has an alfresco deck overlooking the African Village and lawns, with views of the savannah plains in the distance.
The floor-to-ceiling windows make the most of the savannah setting – and welcome plenty of natural light.
Meerkat Room
The larger Meerkat Room, adjacent to the Meerkat exhibit, has a deck overlooking Lakeside Cove and the gorilla exhibit in the distance.
The meerkats at play lend a joyful ambience to any event, with the surrounding African animals only enhancing the exotic atmosphere.
Outdoor ceremonies
If you’re looking for a striking setting to exchange your vows, our inspiring outdoor sites will ensure that your special day is one to remember.
Lakeside Cove looks onto lawns with the distant Core Island in the background.
Adventurous couples can choose the more dramatic backdrops of the Kubu River Hippos exhibit or the African Village.
Catering
Our food is inspired by the influences at our heart: the African culture of our wildlife and our Victorian home.
Reflecting this, our menus combine the best of African food and flavours with the finest Victorian regional produce, with wine sourced from green-focused wineries.
If you have special needs or requests, our chefs can work with you to tailor our restaurant-quality menu for your event.
