Tertiary Programs
A unique opportunity for University and TAFE students to engage with Zoos Victoria.
Program description
Zoos Victoria is passionate about engaging and inspiring future leaders in conservation science. There are a number of different tertiary options that we offer at our zoos.
1. Pedagogy in Practice
Give your pre-service students a ‘peek under the hood,’ of education at Melbourne Zoo. Our Zoo Teachers will take your students through one of our programs to explicitly model and explain the how and why we deliver education at Melbourne Zoo. Your students will have an opportunity to experience and learn what pedgaogy looks like in practice at the Zoo.
Once we receive your booking, we will work with you to develop an Education program that will best meet your students’ needs.
2. Self-guided
Explore our zoo at a pace that suits your class. Available at all four zoos.
3. Conservation Science Walk and Talk
Request one of our Wildlife Conservation and Science experts* to talk to your class and discover conservation science in practice at Melbourne Zoo. Includes a 30 minute talk and 10 minute Q&A opportunity (no behind-the-scenes included). Topics for exploration include:
- Animal welfare
- Community conservation campaigning
- Environmental sustainability
- Threatened species biology
- International conservation partnerships
- Social science
- Wildlife welfare
*Please note: all requests are pending the team’s availability and capacity. We will endeavour to match an expert to your request as best possible.
