Horticulture Tour - Trees of Melbourne Zoo
Our trees play an important part in providing a healthy habitat, food source and enrichment for animal species, including the Red Panda. As well as providing shade, atmosphere and ambiance to our visitors and members. During this tour learn about the history, cultural significance and individual stories of some of our oldest residents.
Sustainability and the Biosphere Years 9-10
Students explore ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainability, learning about carbon cycles, threatened species conservation, habitat protection, and ethical conservation practices.
Horticulture Tour - Japanese Gardens
Come along to hear the history of this carefully manicured space. With discussion topics covering plant selection specific to site topography, mythology, different types of Japanese gardens and the transformation process throughout the seasons. Learn a few tips to design your own Japanese garden at home, with plant care, low water lawn maintenance and pruning tips, as well as what materials and structures are required to construct your own spiritual space.
